Translating the world famous author H C Andersen's papercuttings into porcelain resulted in a series of products ranging from the small translucent candlelightholder to a large tray table.
Cup Ø 8 cm / cast porcelain with cut away decoration
Candlelight holder Ø 6 cm / cast porcelain with folded papercut relief
Tray 34 x 50 cm / cast porcelain with cut away decoration
The project focuses on two main parts: the technical challenge of transferring the qualitites of one specific material to another, and how to upgrade the field of souvenirs and merchandice to something of aesthetic value. It should be possible to produce high quality souvenirs and keeping the aspects of popular functions and a broad audience. The mecanisms of collecting souvenirs have always fascinated me and it is interesting to use design as a tool for research where the end result manifests in physical products as well as theoretical knowledge.

The products are currently on the drawing board for serial production by Kähler and hopefully in stores during 2010/11.
